This grapefruit Irish Mule is a refreshing cocktail that contains Irish whiskey, grapefruit juice, and ginger beer. It's very easy to make and only contains a handful of ingredients! You will love this twist on the classic.

The grapefruit juice goes well with the ginger and the smoothness of the whiskey.

This drink would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day, obviously, but I feel like the grapefruit just adds an extra summery element to it, I don't know. Yes, grapefruit is technically a winter citrus, but citrus in general just feels like summer to me. Perfect for sipping on a hot day!

The temperatures have finally started rising here, and I've got drinks and picnic food on my brain. 🙂

How did this idea come about? Well, my friend Meghan at Fox and Briar is the queen of Irish Mule recipes. I don't make cocktails too often, but whenever I see her photos, that drink just looks so refreshing, and I had to try it myself. I finally picked up some copper mugs, and I gave the Irish Mule my own little twist.

    What's in an Irish Mule?

An Irish Mule is similar to a Moscow Mule, but instead of vodka, Irish whiskey is used. An Irish Mule contains whiskey, ginger beer, and lime juice. In this case, I replaced the lime juice with grapefruit juice to make a grapefruit Irish mule cocktail.

How do you make an Irish Mule?

Add ice to your glass (preferably a copper mug). Pour in the whiskey and fresh grapefruit juice. Top up with ginger beer. Garnish with grapefruit wedges if desired.

I hope you will give this Irish mule recipe a try!

This grapefruit Irish Mule cocktail is a delicious variation of the classic Moscow Mule; it uses Irish whiskey instead of vodka. The perfect refreshing and easy to make party drink. Great for St. Patrick's Day or any day of the year. If you love ginger beer, you will love this cocktail!

Natasha, I would have never thought to use grapefruit juice and the whisky, but it sounds divine! So refreshing! A gorgeous, summery little drink. 😊😊
